Computer Virus Information and types of computer viruses

 

A computer virus is a malicious program designed to replicate itself and spread from one computer to another. It can cause harm to a computer system, steal or delete data, and cause various other problems.

Here are some types of computer viruses:

1.   File infectors :- These viruses infect executable files, such as .exe and .dll files.

2.   Boot sector viruses :- These viruses infect the boot sector of a hard drive or other storage device, making it difficult to remove them.

3.   Macro viruses :- These viruses infect documents and spreadsheets that contain macros, which are sets of instructions used to automate tasks in these applications.

4.   Worms: These are standalone programs that replicate themselves and spread over computer networks, consuming bandwidth and slowing down computer systems.

5.   Trojan horses :- These viruses disguise themselves as legitimate programs and gain access to a computer system, allowing hackers to gain control of the system or steal data.

6.   Ransomware :- This type of virus encrypts files on a computer system and demands a ransom payment in exchange for the decryption key.

7.   Rootkits :- These viruses gain access to a computer system and hide their presence from antivirus software and other security measures.

8.   Spyware :- These viruses track user activity on a computer system and transmit the information back to the hacker.

It is important to use antivirus software and keep it up-to-date to protect against these types of viruses. Additionally, it is important to be cautious when downloading files and opening emails from unknown sources, as these can be a source of viruses.
