All Types of File Formats

 

There are many different file formats that exist for different types of data and applications. Here are some common types of file formats :-

1.   Text files :- These are files that contain plain text and can be opened with any text editor. Examples include .txt, .doc, .docx, .odt, .pdf, and .rtf.

2.   Image files :- These are files that contain digital images and can be opened with an image viewer or editor. Examples include .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .svg, and .tif.

3.   Audio files :- These are files that contain digital audio and can be opened with an audio player or editor. Examples include .mp3, .wav, .aac, .ogg, and .wma.

4.   Video files :- These are files that contain digital video and can be opened with a video player or editor. Examples include .mp4, .avi, .mov, .wmv, and .mkv.

5.   Compressed files :- These are files that have been compressed to take up less space and can be opened with a file archiver or extractor. Examples include .zip, .rar, .7z, and .tar.

6.   Database files :- These are files that contain structured data and can be opened with a database management system. Examples include .sql, .mdb, .accdb, .csv, and .xml.

7.   Executable files :- These are files that contain instructions that can be executed by a computer and can be opened by running them. Examples include .exe, .dll, .bat, .sh, and .app.

8.   Font files :- These are files that contain font data and can be opened with a font viewer or editor. Examples include .ttf, .otf, and .woff.

9.   System files :- These are files that are used by the operating system and can't be opened or edited by a user. Examples include .dll, .sys, and .ini.

These are just a few examples of the many types of file formats that exist. Different file formats have different purposes and are used for different types of data and applications.
